Do you love to crochet? Share your skills and help others create something meaningful during RCSJ Serves, a college-wide Week of Service at Rowan College of South Jersey in recognition of the 25th Anniversary of the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.
The Volunteer Center of South Jersey is seeking experienced crocheters to serve as Crochet Coaches for our Crocheting for a Cause project. Volunteers will help the Rowan College of South Jersey community (students, faculty, and staff) learn the basics of crocheting while creating handmade scarves that will be donated to warming centers and community organizations throughout South Jersey to help individuals stay warm during the winter months.
No formal teaching experience is required—just patience, encouragement, and a passion for sharing your love of crocheting!
What You'll Do
Welcome participants to the project
Demonstrate basic crochet techniques
Help beginners start a simple scarf
Provide encouragement and one-on-one assistance Share tips and answer questions
Help create a fun, welcoming, and supportive environment
Qualifications
We're looking for volunteers who:
Have basic to intermediate crochet experience
Enjoy helping and encouraging others
Are patient and friendly with beginners
Can work independently or as part of a team
Believe in the power of service and community
