Coat Sorting - Jersey Cares Coat Drive

Description

URGENT NEED: With the uncertainty of this weekend's weather, we will be sorting coats donated through the Jersey Cares Coat Drive on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

For the past 29 years, The Jersey Cares Coat Drive has mobilized the collection and distribution of thousands of "gently used" winter coats to men, women, children, and infants in need. Last year, Jersey Cares collected more than 20,000 coats throughout the state of New Jersey. The generous people of the region are the reason Jersey Cares is able to provide the most vulnerable in our state with these necessary items.  Therefore, we certainly do appreciate everyone who was able to donate.

Coat Sorting involves:

  1. Sorting through all coats in the container and organizing them into categories.
  2. Bagging coats by 5 into categories.
  3. Keeping inventory.
  4. Supporting with clean-up.
  5. Dressing warm!

*This event will be outdoors, so please remember to dress warmly. Saturday's event has not been canceled yet, but we are attempting to get some sorting done ahead of time so we are not outside for too long that day. To volunteer on Saturday, please click here
