Interactive Mascot Character Volunteer — Christmas Social

As an Interactive Mascot Character Volunteer for the From We Can’t to We Can Christmas Social, you will bring festive cheer and inclusive holiday magic to families throughout the event! You’ll perform in one of our mascot-style costumes, greet guests, wave, take photos, and create gentle, joyful interactions — especially for children with sensory needs.

Volunteers will rotate in 30-minute character time slots to stay comfortable, hydrated, and energized, with support staff at all times.

Time: 30-minute performance blocks between 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Arrival: Arrive 20 minutes before your slot
Location: Masso’s Orchard Garden, 210 Delsea Dr S, Glassboro, NJ 08028
Key Responsibilities
- Wear one of our holiday mascot costumes
- Wave, pose for photos, gently greet guests
- Use calm body language and slow, friendly gestures
- Interact with children and families at a sensory-friendly pace
- Maintain character energy while being mindful of sensory sensitivities
- Rotate out after each 30-minute set for rest & costume reset

Sensory-Inclusive Guideline
- No loud noises, sudden movements, or big surprises
- Follow child comfort cues (no forced interaction)
- Take breaks to avoid overheating or fatigue
- Work with Accessibility Team when needed

Dress Code
- Athletic/comfy base layer for under costume
- Closed-toe shoes
(No perfumes, flashing accessories, or noisy bells)
