(F) & (W) This position will direct guests to the parking area and “Welcome” tent, or direct vendors to the entrance of the site to go to their booth space. This position requires ability to be on your feet. Good walking shoes, layered clothing and sunscreen/hats advised.

(W) These positions will help in the kitchen/dining hall helping with food prep, serving and setting up/cleaning up the dining hall before and after meal times for approximately 100 people. Should wear comfortable shoes as this is mostly a standing position. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy. Long hair needs to be pulled back in a pony tail and hats will need to be worn. These positions are indoors in our dining hall.

(F) & (W) (W) & (F) This position will assist the Marketing Director in taking photographs to document the weekend retreat and the concert on Saturday. Photos become the property of Appel Farm and will be used for promotions of future events. Volunteer shifts include 30 minutes of uploading photos to google drive at the end of the shift. Great for college or high school students looking to expand resume skills. Specific positions include stage photography, audience photography and activity photography. Training by Marketing Director will be needed at the start of the day. Please send a few samples of photos you have taken in the past to kbaer@appelfarm.org. (Need Smart Phone w/Camera)*

(W) & (F) These positions will help to set up and break down the arts activities located in the Arts Building or at the Festival Arts Tents. Work with the Teaching Artists and assisting guests in doing the art projects. Best suited for volunteers who love to interact with families in making art. One should be able to move about setting items out on the tables and one should wear clothes that they don’t mind getting messy. 8:00am-10:00am is open studio and the 1:00-3:00 pm shift are volunteer run without teaching artists. Teachers, artists and college art students who have worked with families and children in the past would be great candidates for the positions.

For those familiar with camp, you will be able to assist the Camp Director showing patrons the site and talk about the camp. Great for parents whose children who have attended camp. And for those familiar with the history of Appel Farm starting in the 1970s, volunteers are needed to talk about the main staff house that doubled as the initial camp.

Busking supervisors need to be flexible, kind, caring and listen to directions to ensure that equipment is handled correctly to prevent damage. Familiarity with sound, and musical instruments is needed. Great resume builder for someone working in a music store, and/or college music students looking to obtain real world experience of music management.

(F) These positions will set up 10’ x 10’ popup tents, help move tables and chairs, and set out garbage/recycling cans. The volunteers will also empty trash cans throughout the concert. At the end of the evening, these positions will break down tables/tents and move trash to the dumpster. This position requires the ability to be on your feet and lift about 20-30 pounds. Good walking shoes and layered clothing advised. Great for scout groups and other service organizations looking to gain volunteer hours for membership.

One should be able to move about setting items out on the tables and one should wear clothes that they don’t mind getting messy.

Volunteer in advance (A), for the festival day (F) or a weekend shift (W).(W) This position will show overnight guests their sleeping accommodations and answer any questions they may have like directions to the bathrooms, etc. A person will be stationed at the Hotel Building, North Building and the Hill field for tenting. Volunteer may need to assist guests in getting their baggage into their rooms. Must be able to lift about 20 pounds. Wear sneaker and applicable clothing for the weather since one will be going in and out of the buildings.

Help Appel Farm reach a goal of raising $65,000 in celebration of the center’s 65th Anniversary!
College students, grads or equivalent who are interested in learning more about event preparation are encouraged to collect painted art canvases, collect auction art work, and connect with Appel Farm Arts Camp encouraging them to attend the Anniversary Celebration Weekend (November 7th-9th).. Assist with setting up art auction, canvas display and timeline of Appel Farm as well as work a couple of shifts during the Anniversary Celebration. Letter of volunteer confirmation to be provided for school program or other volunteer program. 5 to 10 hours a week.

Great forcCollege students, grads or equivalent who are interested in gaining experience in advertising a weekend retreat and WXPN Welcomes Festival. This resume-building experience will include Street Teaming- distributing posters and flyers into communities, putting out yard signs, posting the event on third party websites, and creating social media posts. Additional duties include research for the History Building and setting up displays as well as work a couple of shifts during the Anniversary Celebration of November 7th-9th. Letter of volunteer confirmation to be provided for school program or other volunteer program. 5 to 10 hours a week.
