We are looking for caring people to make 10-15 Bereavement calls on a monthly basis from your own home to check in with those who have recently lost a loved one on hospice services with Samaritan.
No computer skills required. No experience necessary! Please note: All who have experienced the loss of a significant family member or friend must wait one year from date of loss to begin the volunteer process. They offer exercise, increase focus, reduce anxiety, soothe and calm nerves, and provide comfort. Consider both men & women when choosing fabrics and accessories. **NO small objects such as buttons or beads that patients can pull off and potentially eat.** Adult Food Protectors/Dining Scarves provide clothing protection during meals. We have sizing and instructions. Lap Blankets provide comfort and warmth to our patients who are bed, chair, or wheelchair bound. Preferred Size: 30" x 40" Prayer Shawls provide spiritual comfort to our patients. The Unit is located inside Virtua Hospital Mount Holly. The In Patient Unit Volunteers shifts occur on the weekends. Saturday and Sunday Shifts are the same: 8am to 11am; 11am to 2pm, and 2pm to 5pm. Bring the following qualities to your work at Samaritan: good communication and listening skills, reliability, flexibility, and compassion.
