Each year, the Angel Tree program helps provide Christmas gifts for thousands of children and seniors in need across the country. The generosity of anonymous (Individuals, families or corporate teams) donors who adopt “angels” from the Angel Trees helps make the season more rewarding for the gift giver and gives a sense of normalcy to the recipients.

Last year we served over 700 children and 350 families with toys, clothing and food boxes for Christmas. Help us continue bringing hope during the holidays!

Here at WheatonArts we are getting excited for the annual Festival of Fine Craft, scheduled for October 4-5, 2025. This is our premier and award-winning annual event, featuring more than 125 artists and exhibitors, new and unique crafts, live demonstrations, hands-on family activities, entertainment, wonderful regional food, and more! Please help us make the Festival of Fine Craft successful once again this year! Every year, the Festival depends on the help of more than 150 generous volunteers who help to make this exciting event run smoothly.

In return for at least 4 hours of donated time, each volunteer will receive a participant badge (good for both days) and two additional complimentary festival passes for friends or family members. Continue volunteering throughout the year, and your time counts towards a free Make-Your-Own-Experience, offered when 100 hours of Volunteer Time at WheatonArts is reached! If you are a student volunteer, you will receive a letter confirming your hours for service learning/clubs.

Kids Alley is preparing an important mailing that will share our mission of building strong hearts, minds, and bodies in children right here in our community. To make it happen, we need extra hands!

Task: Folding, stuffing, and sealing letters

Your time will directly help us spread hope and keep our programs going strong.

Come help out at this exciting and free field trip for schools at Island Beach State Park! Tasks involve: setting up activity stations, assisting with check-in, distributing snack, taking pictures, and cleaning up! This hands-on environmental program is all outdoors, so volunteers should dress in layers and dress for the weather. The event is rain or shine. All further details will be communicated upon sign up.

VCSJ is supporting Clean Ocean Action by being a Captain for their North Wildwood Beach Sweep. This event takes place on October 18, 2025 at the Hereford Inlet Beach in North Wildwood from 9am - 12:30pm.

Assist the Appel Farm Camp Director in providing a tour of the site for the Artober event including a sneak peek behind the scenes in our housing, dining hall, theatre, and art building. This beautiful country setting in Salem County is a great backdrop for enjoying fun fall activities! Need knowledge of Appel Farm site and camp experience. This is a free parking and no charge event. A volunteer waiver is required and will be emailed upon sign up for position.

Help to set up and break down the arts activities located under the arts tents at Appel Farm's Artober event. Work with the Teaching Artists and assist guests with the art projects including pumpkin painting. Best suited for volunteers who love to interact with families in making art. One should be able to move about setting items out on the tables and one should wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy. Great opportunity for scouts, National Honor Society and other high school volunteer groups looking for hours. This is a free parking and no charge event. A volunteer waiver is required and will be emailed upon sign up for position.

 If you are well versed in making a campfire, then this job is for you! Scout leaders, fellow campers, and all around outdoor friends are encouraged to volunteer at Appel Farm's Artober Event where you will start, maintain and close out the afternoon campfire. Guests will love making S’mores around the campfire with you! This is a free parking and no charge event. A volunteer waiver is required and will be emailed upon sign up for position.

Help to serve marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate for our friends to make S’Mores at the Appel Farm Artober event. Assist with serving hot chocolate as well. This is a free parking and no charge event. A volunteer waiver is required and will be emailed upon sign up for position.

Are you an incredibly talented landscaper? Possess a natural green thumb? We're looking for volunteers to assist with the upkeep of our property throughout the summer months. Tasks include mowing the lawn, weed whacking and maintaining the sidewalk growth. Likely to take 2-3 hours tops, and happy to work around your availability! 

We are looking for weekly kitchen volunteers. The time would be from 4-6. The work would consist of just serving food to the homeless community of Atlantic City. For further information, email volunteer@acrescuemission.org

Looking for art teachers/college art students or equivalent who are interested in helping to hang paintings for an art sale, setting up a display of silent auction items, historic time line of the last 65 years of Appel Farm and didactic displays of various Appel Farm activities like a Memory Wall, In Memoriam display, Building and Grounds and more. Staff are willing to sign log books for approval on volunteer hours. (Must be able to hang artwork and move about gallery space. Instructions will be sent by email in advance and staff will be onsite supervising set up.)

The activities include a vibrant weekend of art, music and community, honoring the connections, shared memories and radiant spirit that make our center a creative home for all! Centrally located in South Jersey off Routes 55 and 40. Volunteer for a 3-4 hour shift and still have plenty of time to enjoy the festivities.

OVER 100 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR VARIOUS ACTIVITIES!
Volunteer in advance (A), for the festival day (F) or a weekend shift (W).

(W) & (F) These positions will help to set up and break down the arts activities located in the Arts Building or at the Festival Arts Tents. Work with the Teaching Artists and assisting guests in doing the art projects. Best suited for volunteers who love to interact with families in making art. One should be able to move about setting items out on the tables and one should wear clothes that they don’t mind getting messy. 8:00am-10:00am is open studio and the 1:00-3:00 pm shift are volunteer run without teaching artists. Teachers, artists and college art students who have worked with families and children in the past would be great candidates for the positions.

For those familiar with camp, you will be able to assist the Camp Director showing patrons the site and talk about the camp. Great for parents whose children who have attended camp. And for those familiar with the history of Appel Farm starting in the 1970s, volunteers are needed to talk about the main staff house that doubled as the initial camp.

Great resume builder for someone working in a music store, and/or college music students looking to obtain real world experience of music management.

(F) These positions will set up 10’ x 10’ popup tents, help move tables and chairs, and set out garbage/recycling cans. The volunteers will also empty trash cans throughout the concert. At the end of the evening, these positions will break down tables/tents and move trash to the dumpster. This position requires the ability to be on your feet and lift about 20-30 pounds. Good walking shoes and layered clothing advised. Great for scout groups and other service organizations looking to gain volunteer hours for membership.

At the end of the evening during the 7-9 shift, assist the coordinator with food truck owners and sponsors safely exit the site. Good walking shoes and layered clothing advised.

We are looking for volunteers to help take care of youth ages 4-21 (with and without disabilities) while their parents are participating in our workshop programming. Our staff will be there to provide support, and the main focus is keeping the kids safe and entertained through games, coloring, movies, etc. 

Note: new volunteers to Raise the Bar need to complete a virtual volunteer orientation. Volunteers will also need to complete a background check. 

Volunteer at an outreach table on behalf of Clean Ocean Action (COA). Not only is this a great way to get familiarized with COA’s offerings and current campaigns, but this event takes place outdoors at a beachside location with other local groups!

College students, grads or equivalent who are interested in learning more about event preparation are encouraged to collect painted art canvases, collect auction art work, and connect with Appel Farm Arts Camp encouraging them to attend the Anniversary Celebration Weekend (November 7th-9th).. Assist with setting up art auction, canvas display and timeline of Appel Farm as well as work a couple of shifts during the Anniversary Celebration. Letter of volunteer confirmation to be provided for school program or other volunteer program. 5 to 10 hours a week.

Help us distribute a turkey and a food box containing all the Thanksgiving meal fixings to families in our community. Distribution will take place drive-thru style in the parking lot of our building. Volunteers will help load turkey and food boxes into the trunk of vehicles. Other volunteers can also help collect general information about the family.

Last year we had over of 1,200 children that will be able to celebrate Christmas with toys under the tree. Therefore, we need SANTA's Elves to help our toy shop and pack toys for each child in their assigned bags as well as prepare food baskets/boxes for about 500 families.

As noted above, this year we have an estimated amount of 1,200 children that will be able to celebrate Christmas with toys under the tree. Therefore, we need SANTA and his elves to help give the toys to families. Distribution will take place drive-thru style in the parking lot of our building. Volunteers will help load toy bags and food boxes into the trunk of vehicles.

Join Crocheting For A Cause, where volunteers create crochet projects to support nonprofits across South Jersey. We have ongoing projects available for all levels (beginner to advanced), providing registered volunteers with patterns via email. The Volunteer Center then coordinates collection and delivery to organizations in need.

Ongoing projects include Hats and Scarves, Baby Booties, Blankets, Prayer Shawls, and more. 

Family Success Centers are community-based, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where community residents can go for family support, information, and services. Family Success Centers serve families in safe and supportive home-like environments designed to strengthen the family unit, build relationships, enrich the lives of community members, and make families and neighborhoods stronger.

Volunteers are needed to lead English as a Second Language courses at the Building Bridges Family Success Center. Volunteers will lead weekly courses to teach the basics for reading and writing English, vocabulary, grammar, and common phrases. Volunteers are also needed to translate and provide additional support to families in need of service at the Family Success Center.

Courses will be taught once a week and your schedule can be determined with the volunteer supervisor.

You will serve for a year in a nonprofit organization to make a lasting difference and bring communities out of poverty! Are you passionate about increasing access to fresh, healthy foods? Join us each month for the Hope Mobile Food Distribution, in partnership with the Food Bank of South Jersey!

With food insecurity being such a pressing issue in Camden City, we distribute fresh food to families in the community every third Wednesday of the month at a local school. As a volunteer, you can help us unload donations, set up tables, and distribute food! 

We encourage both groups and individuals to volunteer with us as often as you like. Hope Mobile takes place from 7:30am - 11:30am.

Community Outreach Volunteer - Responsible for aiding program with reaching out to the community by attending community meetings/events, canvasing community areas, and assisting Coordinator with partnership development.
 
General/Daily Operations Volunteer - Responsible for general tasks within and around the center. Provides staff with assistance preparing for workshops, events, and activities. Also, to aid with overall organization of the center.
 
Family Engagement Volunteer - Responsible for assisting Family Partner staff members with family engagement and creating a comfortable atmosphere for all participants entering the center.

The Family Success Centers are community-based, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where residents can go for family support, information, and services. We offer fun activities, informational workshops, and opportunities to learn and grow for people of all ages!

You are invited to participate in meaningful volunteer service and fulfill service hours at the same time. Teens support Samaritan's patients through independent projects, joining our teen volunteer group SamariTeens, helping as a greeter/receptionist at our Samaritan Center at Voorhees, and/or helping at Samaritan Thrift. Samaritan is a non-profit agency caring for those with serious illness to help them live their best lives every day. 

1. Independent projects are available to anyone who wants to gain service hours but not join a group. We have ideas from collection drives, to crafts, to fundraisers, etc. You work on your own time. We provide letters confirming contributions.

2. SamariTeens is a group for 14-18 year old high school students who want to volunteer on an on-going basis.

During the school year, we meet once a month, either after school or in the evening from 6-7:30pm. We make crafts for our patients and families to enjoy, visit assisted living communities to play games or make crafts with the residents, participate in fundraisers, represent at volunteer fairs, and support annual events. No mandatory requirements, participate in as many activities that fit your schedule and that you'd enjoy.

3. Greeter/Reception for teens 17+ years old. Samaritan Center at Voorhees, 265 Rte 73 S, Voorhees. Answer phones, greet & escort visitors to the Center. Shifts available 7 days/week - 9a-12p, 12-3, 3-6, & 6-8. Complimentary training provided, medical clearance required, including COVID Vaccination and Initial Booster

4. Samaritan Thrift for teens 17+ years old in our Westmont store open Tues-Fri, 11a-3p and Sat, 11a-5p. Help with sorting, tagging and organizing merchandise, maintaining store cleanliness, etc.

All activities count as community service!

You can provide a welcoming presence to guests and our patients' families at our  Inpatient Center at our front desk. Shifts available 7 days/week, as follows: 8a-11a, 11a-2p, 2-5p.

Project Appreciation offers a meaningful way for community members to express their gratitude to local first responders by assembling thoughtful treat bags.

You can support Project Appreciation by organizing a collection drive and helping to pack these thank-you bags, which will be distributed to first responders throughout South Jersey. We invite schools, faith-based organizations, corporate groups, and community teams to join this effort in honor and remember September 11, 2001.

Our ambitious goal is to gather enough donations to fill a "thank you" bag for every first responder across all seven counties in South Jersey. It's a significant challenge, but with your support, we’re confident we can achieve it.

To participate, simply register by responding to this need. Once registered, we'll confirm your involvement via email and provide a toolkit with detailed instructions on how to collect, assemble, and donate the items.

Visit with Samaritan's veteran patients and families in their homes or in long-term care facilities in your local community throughout Burlington County. Support our patients and their family caregivers through companionship, sharing military experiences, sharing stories, attending medal ceremonies, performing life review, reading, playing cards and games, acting as a friend or neighbor. 

Volunteers visit once a week for 2-4 hours and do not provide any hands-on care. No experience or healthcare background needed. Training is provided.

You are invited to participate in meaningful volunteer service and fulfill service hours at the same time. Teens support Samaritan's patients through independent projects, joining our teen volunteer group SamariTeens, helping as a greeter/receptionist at our Samaritan Center at Voorhees, and/or helping at Samaritan Thrift. Samaritan is a non-profit agency caring for those with serious illness to help them live their best lives every day.

1. Independent projects are available to anyone who wants to gain service hours but not join a group. We have ideas from collection drives, to crafts, to fundraisers, etc. You work on your own time. We provide letters confirming contributions.

2. SamariTeens is a group for 14-18 year old high school students who want to volunteer on an on-going basis.

During the school year, we meet once a month, either after school or in the evening from 6-7:30pm. We make crafts for our patients and families to enjoy, visit assisted living communities to play games or make crafts with the residents, participate in fundraisers, represent at volunteer fairs, and support annual events. No mandatory requirements, participate in as many activities that fit your schedule and that you'd enjoy.

3. Greeter/Reception for teens 17+ years old. Samaritan Center at Voorhees, 265 Rte 73 S, Voorhees. Answer phones, greet & escort visitors to the Center. Shifts available 7 days/week - 9a-12p, 12-3, 3-6, & 6-8. Complimentary training provided, medical clearance required, including COVID Vaccination and Initial Booster

4. Samaritan Thrift for teens 17+ years old in our Westmont store open Tues-Fri, 11a-3p and Sat, 11a-5p. Help with sorting, tagging and organizing merchandise, maintaining store cleanliness, etc.

All activities count as community service!

We have a need for volunteers to help with the following tasks:

Community Outreach Volunteer - Responsible for aiding program with reaching out to the community by attending community meetings/events, canvasing community areas, and assisting Coordinator with partnership development.
 
General/Daily Operations Volunteer - Responsible for general tasks within and around the center. Provides staff with assistance preparing for workshops, events, and activities. Also, to aid with overall organization of the center.
 
Family Engagement Volunteer - Responsible for assisting Family Partner staff members with family engagement and creating a comfortable atmosphere for all participants entering the center.

The Family Success Centers are community-based, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where residents can go for family support, information, and services. We offer fun activities, informational workshops, and opportunities to learn and grow for people of all ages!

The Promise Neighborhood Family Success Center needs your help to bring in donations of needed materials from local business and organizations to be used for workshops, events, and general daily operations. 

Are you looking to increase your skills writing letters of support or planning fundraising events? 

We need help to write letters and visit various businesses and organizations to seek donations. We also are seeking help to organize and develop fundraising events and strategies for seeking donations.

You will join a fantastic team and have lots of support! Time frame is flexible. 

The Promise Neighborhood Family Success Center in Camden is looking for a bilingual Spanish/English teacher to assist with our ESL tutoring program.

Volunteers must be able to work well with diverse populations and within a group setting. Experience with trauma-informed care is a plus!

You will need to commit to at least one session per week, however attendance at both sessions is preferred! 

Many area youths do not have access to books when they can’t go to school or the library. Help bring literature to them by reading a book and submitting a virtual storytime to us! 

We will be posting the videos on YouTube and area youth will have access to those recordings. To complete this project, you only need an age-appropriate book from Kindergarten-5th Grade and a way to record video (phone, computer, or another recording device).

You can read in other languages as well. When you send us the video please indicate which language it is.

With your donation of new duffle bags, you can help ease a child's transition from emergency housing to a long-term home. A new duffle bag provides a sensible means for a child to transport their belongings.

You can help by making a donation or by leading a collection of brand-new overnight duffle bags. Expandable, collapsable duffle bags work best, because they are stackable and can be easily stored until needed. 

Your support will make it possible for a child to easily transport their personal belongings as they transition back to their families or to another caring home.  With your help, you can be the one to make sure a child does not have to transport their personal items in a plastic bag. 

Each year more than 800 children and teens find temporary safe housing at Center For Family Services. During their stay at one of our safe homes, children are provided with a stable foundation that allows them to heal, grow, and experience joy. Services help to instill confidence and self-worth in our youth, empowering them to pave their path to a better life and brighter future.  Family reunification is always our primary goal and whenever possible we support youth in transitioning back home. When this is not possible, we support youth in transitioning to another caring home.

The Ready to Achieve Mentoring Program (RAMP) at Progressive Center for Independent Living is looking for volunteers age 20 and up to serve as positive role models for Mercer County at-risk high school youth

Each youth will meet regularly with a mentor to develop and implement an Individualized Mentoring Plan (IMP). Our chosen Mentors are caring adults recruited from the community, schools, employers, and partner organizations.  Youths’ families, teachers, and support network are engaged in career fairs, college visits, and extended learning activities

Mentors provide high-tech, career-focused mentoring to youth, including those with disabilities, who are at-risk of court-involvement, through a combination of one-on-one, group and peer mentoring, with the goals of reducing court involvement and or recidivism; increasing career preparation; and developing work readiness skills

The Prevention Coalition of Mercer County is a group of diverse individuals from the community dedicated to the prevention and treatment of alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse problems.
