Visit with Samaritan's veteran patients and families in their homes or in long-term care facilities in your local community throughout Atlantic County. Support our patients and their family caregivers through companionship, sharing military experiences, sharing stories, attending medal ceremonies, performing life review, reading, playing cards and games, acting as a friend or neighbor.
Volunteers make visits once a week for about 2-4 hours and do not provide any hands-on care. Must be at least 18 years old. No experience or healthcare background needed. Complimentary training is provided.
We ask that all volunteers bring the following qualities to their work at Samaritan: good communication and listening skills, a nonjudgmental attitude, reliability, flexibility, and compassion.
