We’re looking for friendly, community-minded volunteers to help spread the word about an exciting new public art project coming to the Boys & Girls Club of Glassboro.

A permanent exterior mural is being created to reflect the growth, creativity, and leadership happening inside the Club every day, and we’re inviting local businesses to be part of bringing it to life.

This is a short-term outreach role that’s all about connection, conversation, and community pride.

Volunteers will:

• Visit local businesses in person

• Share a simple project flyer

• Introduce the mural and fundraising event

• Secure gift basket donations and gather sponsorship contacts

• Report back with any warm leads

No sales experience needed, just comfort introducing yourself and excitement about supporting local youth.

You’ll receive:

• Clear talking points

• Printed materials

• A list of priority businesses

• A simple tracking sheet

This is a great role for someone who enjoys meeting new people and strengthening local connections. Your outreach directly helps fund a permanent public artwork that will serve hundreds of youth and families for years to come, and you’ll be part of making it happen.

Heavy lifting up to 50lbs may be necessary, but non-heavy lifting tasks are also available.

Join Crocheting For A Cause, where volunteers create crochet projects to support nonprofits across South Jersey. We have ongoing projects available for all levels (beginner to advanced), providing registered volunteers with patterns via email. The Volunteer Center then coordinates collection and delivery to organizations in need.

Ongoing projects include Hats and Scarves, Baby Booties, Blankets, Prayer Shawls, and more. 

Family Success Centers are community-based, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where community residents can go for family support, information, and services. Family Success Centers serve families in safe and supportive home-like environments designed to strengthen the family unit, build relationships, enrich the lives of community members, and make families and neighborhoods stronger.

Volunteers are needed to lead English as a Second Language courses at the Building Bridges Family Success Center. Volunteers will lead weekly courses to teach the basics for reading and writing English, vocabulary, grammar, and common phrases. Volunteers are also needed to translate and provide additional support to families in need of service at the Family Success Center.

Courses will be taught once a week and your schedule can be determined with the volunteer supervisor.

Are you passionate about increasing access to fresh, healthy foods? Join us each month for the Hope Mobile Food Distribution, in partnership with the Food Bank of South Jersey!

With food insecurity being such a pressing issue in Camden City, we distribute fresh food to families in the community every third Wednesday of the month at a local school. As a volunteer, you can help us unload donations, set up tables, and distribute food! 

We encourage both groups and individuals to volunteer with us as often as you like. Hope Mobile takes place from 7:30am - 11:30am.

Community Outreach Volunteer - Responsible for aiding program with reaching out to the community by attending community meetings/events, canvasing community areas, and assisting Coordinator with partnership development.
 
General/Daily Operations Volunteer - Responsible for general tasks within and around the center. Provides staff with assistance preparing for workshops, events, and activities. Also, to aid with overall organization of the center.
 
Family Engagement Volunteer - Responsible for assisting Family Partner staff members with family engagement and creating a comfortable atmosphere for all participants entering the center.

The Family Success Centers are community-based, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where residents can go for family support, information, and services. We offer fun activities, informational workshops, and opportunities to learn and grow for people of all ages!

Teens support Samaritan's patients through independent projects, joining our teen volunteer group SamariTeens, helping as a greeter/receptionist at our Samaritan Center at Voorhees, and/or helping at Samaritan Thrift. Samaritan is a non-profit agency caring for those with serious illness to help them live their best lives every day. 

1. Independent projects are available to anyone who wants to gain service hours but not join a group. We have ideas from collection drives, to crafts, to fundraisers, etc. You work on your own time. We provide letters confirming contributions.

2. SamariTeens is a group for 14-18 year old high school students who want to volunteer on an on-going basis.

During the school year, we meet once a month, either after school or in the evening from 6-7:30pm. We make crafts for our patients and families to enjoy, visit assisted living communities to play games or make crafts with the residents, participate in fundraisers, represent at volunteer fairs, and support annual events. No mandatory requirements, participate in as many activities that fit your schedule and that you'd enjoy.

3. Greeter/Reception for teens 17+ years old. Samaritan Center at Voorhees, 265 Rte 73 S, Voorhees. Answer phones, greet & escort visitors to the Center. Shifts available 7 days/week - 9a-12p, 12-3, 3-6, & 6-8. Complimentary training provided, medical clearance required, including COVID Vaccination and Initial Booster

4. Samaritan Thrift for teens 17+ years old in our Westmont store open Tues-Fri, 11a-3p and Sat, 11a-5p. Help with sorting, tagging and organizing merchandise, maintaining store cleanliness, etc.

All activities count as community service!

Project Appreciation offers a meaningful way for community members to express their gratitude to local first responders by assembling thoughtful treat bags.

You can support Project Appreciation by organizing a collection drive and helping to pack these thank-you bags, which will be distributed to first responders throughout South Jersey. We invite schools, faith-based organizations, corporate groups, and community teams to join this effort in honor and remember September 11, 2001.

Our ambitious goal is to gather enough donations to fill a "thank you" bag for every first responder across all seven counties in South Jersey. It's a significant challenge, but with your support, we’re confident we can achieve it.

To participate, simply register by responding to this need. Once registered, we'll confirm your involvement via email and provide a toolkit with detailed instructions on how to collect, assemble, and donate the items.

4. Samaritan Thrift for teens 17+ years old in our Westmont store open Tues-Fri, 11a-3p and Sat, 11a-5p. Help with sorting, tagging and organizing merchandise, maintaining store cleanliness, etc.

Spring is a great time to try a new volunteer opportunity! What better way to do that than to open your heart to a hospice patient and their family. No special skills required; just you desire to make a compassionate connection.

Visit with Samaritan's patients and families in their homes or in long-term care facilities in your local communities. Provide a comforting presence, companionship, read, play cards and games, share stories, share military experiences, act as a friend or neighbor. Veterans needed to visit fellow Veterans.

Volunteers visit once a week for 2-4 hours and do not provide any hands-on care. Must be at least 18 years old. No experience or healthcare background needed. Complimentary training is provided. 

Qualifications/Requirements:

We ask that all volunteers bring the following qualities to their work at Samaritan: good communication and listening skills, a nonjudgmental attitude, reliability, flexibility, and compassion.
