Each year, the Angel Tree program helps provide Christmas gifts for thousands of children and seniors in need across the country. The generosity of anonymous (Individuals, families or corporate teams) donors who adopt “angels” from the Angel Trees helps make the season more rewarding for the gift giver and gives a sense of normalcy to the recipients.

Last year we served over 700 children and 350 families with toys, clothing and food boxes for Christmas. Help us continue bringing hope during the holidays!

General Responsibilities for all Specialists:

Kids Alley is a Christ-centered nonprofit ministry dedicated to bringing hope, love, and education to children and families in Camden, Pennsauken, and surrounding communities. Through our programs — including the Kids Alley Learning Center — we provide a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where children can grow academically, emotionally, and spiritually. Our mission is to build strong hearts, strong minds, and strong bodies while sharing the love of Jesus in practical and meaningful ways.

Last year we had over of 1,200 children that will be able to celebrate Christmas with toys under the tree. Therefore, we need SANTA's Elves to help our toy shop and pack toys for each child in their assigned bags as well as prepare food baskets/boxes for about 500 families.

Help bring the From We Can’t to We Can Christmas Social to life before guests arrive! .

Setup Crew volunteers assist with unloading supplies, arranging tables and chairs, decorating stations, and preparing sensory-friendly spaces.

You’ll make sure every area—from crafts to Santa’s setup—is welcoming, safe, and accessible for all families.

As a Craft Station Leader for the From We Can’t to We Can Christmas Social, you’ll help guide fun, inclusive holiday crafts while ensuring the space stays welcoming and sensory-friendly. You’ll assist children and families with materials, model activities, encourage creativity, and help keep the area organized and calm

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with kids, loves hands-on activities, and can support a friendly, patient environment for all abilities.

General Volunteers for the From We Can’t to We Can Christmas Social help bring joy and seamless support to families throughout the event. In this flexible role, you’ll assist wherever help is most needed — from greeting guests, guiding families to stations, supporting activities, restocking supplies, and helping maintain a safe, welcoming, and sensory-friendly environment for all.

This role is perfect for volunteers who don't mind rolling up their sleeves and ending the day strong as part of our last crew on-site.

Bring holiday joy as the Sensory-Friendly Santa for the From We Can’t to We Can Christmas Social! In this role, you will warmly greet children and families, take photos, and help create a calm, inclusive, and magical Christmas moment for every guest — especially those with sensory sensitivities or additional needs.

You’ll work alongside a trained support team (elves/handlers, photographer assistant, and accessibility volunteers) to ensure every child feels safe, respected, and celebrated.

As an Interactive Mascot Character Volunteer for the From We Can’t to We Can Christmas Social, you will bring festive cheer and inclusive holiday magic to families throughout the event! Volunteers will rotate in 30-minute character time slots to stay comfortable, hydrated, and energized, with support staff at all times.

We’re looking for a passionate and friendly Photographer Volunteer to help capture the joy and magic of the From We Can’t to We Can Christmas Social on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Masso’s Orchard Garden in Glassboro, NJ.

As our event photographer, you’ll document special moments throughout the day — from Sensory Santa visits and arts & crafts to performances and family interactions — helping us preserve memories while showcasing the inclusivity and spirit of the event.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone who loves community storytelling, family photography, or event coverage and wants to make a meaningful impact.

Help us bring a little extra sparkle to the season for children and families who need it most! Our hope is to share the joy and warmth of Christmas—especially with families who may not have gifts under the tree, or even a tree at all. Together, we’ll show God’s love through the true message of Christmas, a cozy family meal, festive music, and a magical trip to “Santa’s Toy Shop.”

As noted above, this year we have an estimated amount of 1,200 children that will be able to celebrate Christmas with toys under the tree. Therefore, we need SANTA and his elves to help give the toys to families. Distribution will take place drive-thru style in the parking lot of our building. Volunteers will help load toy bags and food boxes into the trunk of vehicles.

This MLK Event will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

For the past 29 years, The Jersey Cares Coat Drive has mobilized the collection and distribution of thousands of "gently used" winter coats to men, women, children, and infants in need. Last year, Jersey Cares collected more than 20,000 coats throughout the state of New Jersey. The generous people of the region are the reason Jersey Cares is able to provide the most vulnerable in our state with these necessary items.  Therefore, we certainly do appreciate everyone who was able to donate.

Looking for a way to volunteer from the comfort of your home? 

Join Crocheting For A Cause, where volunteers create crochet projects to support nonprofits across South Jersey. We have ongoing projects available for all levels (beginner to advanced), providing registered volunteers with patterns via email. The Volunteer Center then coordinates collection and delivery to organizations in need.

Ongoing projects include Hats and Scarves, Baby Booties, Blankets, Prayer Shawls, and more. 

Family Success Centers are community-based, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where community residents can go for family support, information, and services. Family Success Centers serve families in safe and supportive home-like environments designed to strengthen the family unit, build relationships, enrich the lives of community members, and make families and neighborhoods stronger.

Volunteers are needed to lead English as a Second Language courses at the Building Bridges Family Success Center. Volunteers will lead weekly courses to teach the basics for reading and writing English, vocabulary, grammar, and common phrases. Volunteers are also needed to translate and provide additional support to families in need of service at the Family Success Center.

Courses will be taught once a week and your schedule can be determined with the volunteer supervisor.

You will serve for a year in a nonprofit organization to make a lasting difference and bring communities out of poverty! Are you passionate about increasing access to fresh, healthy foods? Join us each month for the Hope Mobile Food Distribution, in partnership with the Food Bank of South Jersey!

With food insecurity being such a pressing issue in Camden City, we distribute fresh food to families in the community every third Wednesday of the month at a local school. As a volunteer, you can help us unload donations, set up tables, and distribute food! 

We encourage both groups and individuals to volunteer with us as often as you like. Hope Mobile takes place from 7:30am - 11:30am.

1. Independent projects are available to anyone who wants to gain service hours but not join a group. We have ideas from collection drives, to crafts, to fundraisers, etc. You work on your own time. We provide letters confirming contributions.

2. SamariTeens is a group for 14-18 year old high school students who want to volunteer on an on-going basis.

During the school year, we meet once a month, either after school or in the evening from 6-7:30pm. We make crafts for our patients and families to enjoy, visit assisted living communities to play games or make crafts with the residents, participate in fundraisers, represent at volunteer fairs, and support annual events. No mandatory requirements, participate in as many activities that fit your schedule and that you'd enjoy.

3. Greeter/Reception for teens 17+ years old. Samaritan Center at Voorhees, 265 Rte 73 S, Voorhees. Answer phones, greet & escort visitors to the Center. Shifts available 7 days/week - 9a-12p, 12-3, 3-6, & 6-8. Complimentary training provided, medical clearance required, including COVID Vaccination and Initial Booster

4. Samaritan Thrift for teens 17+ years old in our Westmont store open Tues-Fri, 11a-3p and Sat, 11a-5p. Help with sorting, tagging and organizing merchandise, maintaining store cleanliness, etc.

Project Appreciation offers a meaningful way for community members to express their gratitude to local first responders by assembling thoughtful treat bags.

You can support Project Appreciation by organizing a collection drive and helping to pack these thank-you bags, which will be distributed to first responders throughout South Jersey. We invite schools, faith-based organizations, corporate groups, and community teams to join this effort in honor and remember September 11, 2001.

Our ambitious goal is to gather enough donations to fill a "thank you" bag for every first responder across all seven counties in South Jersey. It's a significant challenge, but with your support, we’re confident we can achieve it.

The Promise Neighborhood Family Success Center in Camden is looking for a bilingual Spanish/English teacher to assist with our ESL tutoring program.

Volunteers must be able to work well with diverse populations and within a group setting. Experience with trauma-informed care is a plus!

You will need to commit to at least one session per week, however attendance at both sessions is preferred! 

Many area youths do not have access to books when they can’t go to school or the library. Help bring literature to them by reading a book and submitting a virtual storytime to us! 

We will be posting the videos on YouTube and area youth will have access to those recordings. To complete this project, you only need an age-appropriate book from Kindergarten-5th Grade and a way to record video (phone, computer, or another recording device).

Your support will make it possible for a child to easily transport their personal belongings as they transition back to their families or to another caring home.  With your help, you can be the one to make sure a child does not have to transport their personal items in a plastic bag. 

Each year more than 800 children and teens find temporary safe housing at Center For Family Services. During their stay at one of our safe homes, children are provided with a stable foundation that allows them to heal, grow, and experience joy. Services help to instill confidence and self-worth in our youth, empowering them to pave their path to a better life and brighter future.  Family reunification is always our primary goal and whenever possible we support youth in transitioning back home. When this is not possible, we support youth in transitioning to another caring home.

The Ready to Achieve Mentoring Program (RAMP) at Progressive Center for Independent Living is looking for volunteers age 20 and up to serve as positive role models for Mercer County at-risk high school youth

Each youth will meet regularly with a mentor to develop and implement an Individualized Mentoring Plan (IMP). Our chosen Mentors are caring adults recruited from the community, schools, employers, and partner organizations.  Youths’ families, teachers, and support network are engaged in career fairs, college visits, and extended learning activities

Mentors provide high-tech, career-focused mentoring to youth, including those with disabilities, who are at-risk of court-involvement, through a combination of one-on-one, group and peer mentoring, with the goals of reducing court involvement and or recidivism; increasing career preparation; and developing work readiness skills

The Prevention Coalition of Mercer County is a group of diverse individuals from the community dedicated to the prevention and treatment of alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse problems.

Volunteer to help youth and adults find the right bike for them at our Bike Exchange. Limited bike knowledge is needed, as we will train volunteers.  Just need to have an out going personality and desire to help others.

Most volunteers sign up for (1) three hour shift per month.

Volunteer to  help repair used bikes at our Bike Exchange.  Join other volunteers in a social setting to help get donated bikes ready for low cost sales to customers.  All proceeds from the Bike Exchange support youth schoolarships to the Boys & Girls Club after school program.

Most bike mechanics volunt 1-2 times per month in (3) hour shifts.

Intermediate bike repair skills required. Additional training is available.

We welcome enthusiastic, dedicated and positive volunteers who are committed to empowering girls with valuable life lessons. Coaches are parents, teachers, school administrators, college students and other community members who are committed to developing and celebrating our girls.

Our coaches work hand in hand with our girls at sites across Mercer County. Each season runs for 10 weeks in the Spring & the Fall. Sessions run for 1.25 hours/2x a week. 

Mentors Needed for At-Risk Youth in Mercer County- LifeTies, Inc. is looking for volunteers to mentor youth in Mercer County who are involved with the juvenile justice system or who are chronically absent from school.

LifeTies is also expanding our mentoring program to serve youth who are questioning or who identify as LGBTQ+ and for this program. Although it is preferable for this program that the mentor identifies as LGBTQ+, we are also accepting allies and family members of those who identify as LGBTQ+.

Mentors engage in building a caring, nurturing relationship with youth to help develop character, social relationship skills, career interests, and educational choices. By introducing youth to new experiences and sharing positive values, mentors can help young people avoid negative behaviors and achieve success. Youth with mentors have increased likelihood of going to college, better attitudes toward school, increased social and emotional development, and improved self-esteem.

Mentors who are at least 21 and pass all background checks must commit to at least 4 hours a month for 1 year. LifeTies provides mentors with broad training and support throughout their time as a mentor. For more information or to attend a virtual information session contact us!

LifeTies is currently seeking two ESL tutors to work on a one-on-one basis with Spanish speaking youth in each of our Group Homes (Rainbow House and Triad House). Ideally the tutor will work with the youth about one hour a week. Preferred scheduling will be late afternoon / early evening at a mutually convenient day and time.

LifeTies has a 40 year legacy of serving special populations of youth who have experienced complex trauma and have additional layers of challenges. We work with youth who:
- identify as LGBTQ+
- are pregnant and parenting
- are homeless
- are involved in the juvenile justice system
- are chronically absent from school
- have behavioral health and/or mental health challenges
- have experienced abuse or neglect
- are involved with the child welfare system

LifeTies established the first group home in the country, Rainbow House, in 1991 which focused on young mothers and their babies infected with HIV+/AIDS. Rainbow House currently serves pregnant and parenting youth as well as those with chronic health issues such as diabetes, asthma, lupus, etc.

Triad House was the first group home in New Jersey to focus on working with youth from the child welfare system who identify as LGBTQ+. Both of the group homes are located in Mercer County, but receive referrals from counties throughout the state. We provide the youth with intensive individual and group counseling, life skills, educational support, job searching skills, and family engagement services.

HomeWorks is looking for enthusiastic and committed volunteers who are passionate about educational equity, tutoring, mentoring, and building relationships with HomeWorks scholars. HomeWorks Trenton is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides a community-based after-school boarding program that includes academic and identity-driven leadership enrichment activities to supplement public schools, equip young women, and build community leaders. HomeWorks fosters a community of young women from Trenton who strive to achieve their full potential and positively impact the world around them.

As a tutor, you will volunteer from 7pm to 8:30pm on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Priority is given to tutors who are available at least two days per week. You must be able to commit to your days throughout the duration of the school year. You must be strong in either math, science, history, or humanities. Work as part of a staff/volunteer team to lead a chess program for 8 to 18 year olds at the Boys & Girls Club.  Volunteers are asked to commit to 2-4 times per month, per session.  Chess Club meets once per week for 2 hours, for a 10 week program session in the Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter.

Home Friends is a visitor program for older adults or people with limiting health conditions. This program was created in 1987 in response to a growing need for companionship and support for home-based older adults in Princeton and nearby communities.

Volunteers can do a variety of things during weekly home visits such as: walk together, read and sort mail, exchange stories about life experiences, or pursue mutually shared interests. Some volunteers bring library books, share a movie, help with technology, or work in the garden together.

Home Friends was designed to complement and support, rather than replace, the role of family and paid caregivers.

The Salvation Army is one of the largest programs in the US. Our Trenton community center holds music and creative classes for over 70 students on a weekly basis. Classes include: piano, guitar, drums, brass as well as dance. We need instructors who can teach the basics about music which includes but not limited to parts of the instrument as well as basic music theory. 

Help us collect non-perishable food items as well as diapers (wipes and baby hygiene items) for our pantry program that runs on a weekly basis. MEAL DELIVERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - WEEKDAYS

Meals on Wheels of Mercer County works to assist individuals to maintain independence, dignity, health and well-being by providing comprehensive nutrition services and helping ease social isolation.  Most of our participants are seniors and homebound.  Our service area is Ewing, Trenton, Lawrenceville, Hamilton, Princeton, East Windsor, West Windsor and Hightstown. 

Our volunteers deliver meals every day, Monday through Friday between 10am-12:00pm.  Volunteers pick up meals at Rider University in Lawrenceville and follow a route that takes about 1-1/2 hours to complete.  Volunteers enjoy getting to know the participants, and the participants appreciate the meal and the daily conversation. 

As a trained volunteer mentor, you can spend quality time with a young person to improve their self-esteem, promote positive youth development, deal with day-to-day challenges, build social relationships and resiliency skills, identify educational and career interests, set goals, broaden horizons, participate in social activities, and have fun. Your involvement as a mentor can make a positive impact on the life of a young person.

LifeTies Mentoring services include individual support sessions, group mentoring, and peer activities led by mentors. Mentors are matched with mentees based on common interests and work together to set and reach goals. 

LifeTies Mentors are currently needed to support youth aged 10-21 on the path to a safe and healthy future. You can provide the support a young person needs. Mentors are currently needed to support youth in communities across New Jersey. 

You can be the one to provide support to a child, teen, or young adult who would benefit from the support of a caring mentor.

What is required to become a trained volunteer mentor?

As a mentor, you will be provided with pre-service orientation and ongoing in-service training, support, and guidance throughout your mentorship.

Fidget Mats provide sensory and tactile stimulation for the restless hands of our Dementia patients. They offer exercise, increase focus, reduce anxiety, soothe and calm nerves, and provide comfort. Consider both men & women when choosing fabrics and accessories. **NO small objects such as buttons or beads that patients can pull off and potentially eat.**

Adult Food Protectors/Dining Scarves provide clothing protection during meals. We have sizing and instructions.

Lap Blankets provide comfort and warmth to our patients who are bed, chair, or wheelchair bound. Preferred Size: 30" x 40" 

Prayer Shawls provide spiritual comfort to our patients. Approximate size: 57-58"

Hola Spanish/English speakers!!! Las fiestas nos hacen querer dar!

Use your gift of language to provide compassionate support for local hospice patients and families. Samaritan needs bilingual Spanish/English volunteers to visit our Spanish-speaking patients. Visitors provide companionship and emotional support for the patients and their caregivers. They do not provide physical care. Visits generally occur once a week in the patient’s home or care facility. 

Samaritan is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian organization serving people in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer counties. Our hospice provides services with warmth and dignity for people with a terminal illness.

Looking for energetic individuals to volunteer in our Family Room Program.

In addition to the House programs, our mission has expanded into our neighboring communities with our 11 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms.   Our Family Rooms, located in the 9 South Jersey hospitals below, are a comfortable place for parents, siblings, and extended family members to take a moment for themselves to rest and refresh while remaining steps away from their child’s bedside.  The rooms provide living room areas with comfortable seating,  refrigerators and microwaves, quick service meals, snacks, and beverages.  Rooms may also include access to TVs, and internet, sleep rooms and full bathrooms in some locations.

When families roll up their sleeves and participate in meaningful service projects, they quickly learn that they can make a difference in creating a better community– and a better world. We’ve put this tool kit together for instances in which your family can’t make it to Family Volunteer Day (Fall event), want to participate from home for Family Day of Service (Spring event), or when you simply want to get the family together to do some good. These volunteer opportunities are strictly DIY and can be completed from the comfort of your own home.

Technical Volunteers from all disciplines are needed to assist communities and community organizations with temporary communications, technical support, and community recovery following a disaster.

Description:

We are currently seeking a seasoned business professional to assist in the development and facilitation of a career readiness workshop in support of the Jersey Cares Youth Workforce Development Program. As part of this program, participating interns are required to dedicate 120 hours to a nonprofit organization and engage in a minimum of two career readiness workshops.

Recognizing the diverse schedules and geographical locations of our interns across the state, we have identified the need for an innovative approach to workshop delivery. In lieu of traditional in-person sessions, we aim to leverage technology to provide accessible learning opportunities. Specifically, we are requesting workshop developers and facilitators to create slideshows on a topic listed below and record their presentations for our archives. This format enables interns to access and engage with the workshop content at their convenience, aligning with their individual schedules.

This initiative presents a great opportunity for volunteers to contribute their expertise towards preparing our youth for successful entry into the workforce.

The Youth Workforce Development (YWD) is a cross-sector collaborative bridge program that provides a powerful opportunity for youth ages 16-24 to build economic mobility. Campus Care, a Volunteer Center of South Jersey initiative that supports The Pantry at Rowan College of South Jersey. Through Campus Care, we can help RCSJ address these food and basic needs insecurity issues with a reliable supply of food and essential items.

The Pantry is a campus-based pantry with a location on each of the Rowan College of South Jersey campuses. Free and confidential, The Pantry provides quick meal-on-the-go options, take-home grocery items, and household and hygiene staples like toilet paper, toothbrushes, and period care products for students experiencing food insecurity.

United Way of Greater Mercer County is seeking volunteers to join the tax prep team. The program provides families and individuals making less than $65,000/year with FREE tax return preparation.

Benefits to the Community
Last year's volunteers prepared over 1,000 free tax returns and provided total refunds of $1.3 million including Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC) to working individuals and families as well as those who are 60 years of age and older in our community.

The average adjusted gross income of working individuals and families we serve is $26,000/year. Rising costs of food, housing, and essentials leave families struggling to make ends meet. The savings from tax preparation fees and refunds received are used for basic needs like:

- food
- housing
- healthcare
- childcare
- transportation to their place of employment
- and much more!

To qualify for Federal resources like food assistance (including school lunch and breakfast), health insurance (including Medicaid), college financial aid, and other programs proof of income is required. As a result, tax return filing is crucial to the financial success of many families and individuals. Considering supporting the Samaritan Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mount Holly by greeting family members and visitors coming to see their loved ones, escorting as needed to patient rooms, answering/directing calls, and representing Samaritan.

The Unit is located inside Virtua Hospital Mount Holly. The In Patient Unit Volunteers shifts occur on the weekends. Saturday and Sunday Shifts are the same: 8am to 11am; 11am to 2pm, and 2pm to 5pm. Bring the following qualities to your work at Samaritan: good communication and listening skills, reliability, flexibility, and compassion.

Qualifications/Requirements: - Minimum Age: 17 - One-year commitment - Volunteer Orientation and Training - Some medical requirements including COVID Vaccination and one booster (or physician-signed medical declination). Looking for a fun volunteer activity that you can do with your friends, co workers or family members?  Would you like to meet the families you are helping? If you answered yes then this is an opportunity perfect for you!

Each night a different volunteer group comes to the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey to prepare dinner for the families staying at our House. The process is very simple.

Once you volunteer to do this you will be ready to schedule another date.  The families truly appreciate having dinner ready for them after a long day at the hospital.

We need your help with our Baby’s Best Start program! Baby's Best Start is a nine week program that works together with parents and family members to ensure baby's get off to the best possible start. Program sessions are on Saturdays from 9:45am-2pm. Childcare is offered during these sessions, and we are in need of volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks while the sessions are taking place. Volunteering activities include: - Spanish translation - Assisting with dinner - Leading themed activities - Reading with one child or a group of children - Assisting the group session facilitator  You can choose to volunteer for one or all of these activities. The children that you will be working with are typically ages 2-8.  This opportunity is perfect for someone who identifies with at least one of the following: -You love working with children,  -You have an interest in early childhood development, -You have an interest in parenting and/or supporting parents be their best selves, -You have a passion for literacy, -You are bilingual (not required), -You want to increase your skills in the areas of social services, parenting, early childhood development, literacy, or family services.

Work with us in our small office located in Northfield, a day (or part of a day) per week or as available to create new client welcome packets, update excel and other databases of client and volunteer information, update files with new address and other information, etc.

Accompany our staff or go it alone - outreach at health fairs and public events, share information about CONTACT's services, recruit client and volunteers.
