Who We Are

We build a brighter future for children by promoting family wellness, positive parenting, healthy child development and nurturing communities. We envision a world where every child has a happy, healthy and safe childhood - free of abuse and neglect. PCA-NJ was founded in 1979. We are the NJ State Chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America.

What We Do

Our statewide Home Visiting programs teach new parents how to form healthy bonds with their babies, interact in developmentally appropriate ways, and provide safe homes for their children. our Grow NJ Kids program provides individualized support to participating early childhood education programs to help them improve the quality of their centers. Parent Linking Program provides more than 150 teen parents in 8 schools with the support needed in order for them to graduate high school and strengthen their parenting skills. Our Period of PURPLE Crying Program educates new parents about the normal, yet frustration period of time when crying is most prevalent and teaches ways to soothe a baby and to calm parents; this program prevents abusive head trauma (shaken baby syndrome). Connections Matter is a healing-centered curriculum that teaches adults to use the power of connections to develop healthy brains and supportive relationships, prevent and heal from Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and strengthen communities by building resilience and compassion.
